No Candy For The Pooch...

This is Bowser the Boxer
With Halloween just around the corner, I wanted to take some time to discuss the dangers of Halloween candy if ingested by our 4 legged babies.
We all know that chocolate is highly dangerous for dogs but did you know that the sugar, fat, artificial colors and flavors found in Halloween candy (when ingested by dogs) can lead to gastrointestinal illness and can be dangerous as well. While searching the internet, I found a Chocolate Chart published by the National Geographic that would possibly provide help to dog owners if your pooch should accidentally ingest chocolate.
If you suspect or if you know your pooch has ingested chocolate or and candy, please contact your veterinarian right away or call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control number at (888) 426-4435.
Best way to avoid any accidents is to store your candy in out of reach places, as well as in tight lidded containers. Better to be safe than sorry.
